Beech Hill
Multiple Units, Residential Architects
Beech Hill is a high end residential development in Barnet, North London.
The proposal consists in redeveloping a 3900 m2 rectangular plot with sloping grounds North to South and views to the adjacent golf club. The existing large single family dwelling is demolished and replaced with 9 luxury residential units. These will be divided in two blocks to the front and rear of the site comprising of 7 self-contained flats of 200 m2 and two luxury penthouses of 300 m2. All units are orientated North to South with generous living spaces and terraces overlooking the golf course to the South. Both blocks are connected by a naturally ventilated basement with 21 parking spaces, storage, fitness and swimming pool area, staff services and a raised communal garden and amenity space above. A detached single storey concierge and refuse store and new vehicular access points are provided to the front of the property.
The design is based on the sloping nature of the site and the use of high quality materials and clean lines. Natural stone, black aluminium and high spec glazing are the basic textures of both volumes, while frameless glass balustrades and sleek roof edges underline the horizontal proportion of the blocks in the surrounding landscape. The interior design of the dwellings matches the simplicity and elegance of the building envelopes creating soft, light and warm spaces.
