Located to the west of the centre of Cambridge this house sits in the rear garden of an existing house adjacent to university playing fields and also a wildlife sanctuary.

As such, great sensitivity on analysis of the local context and surroundings was critical in finding the right solution to the scheme. The proposals led towards a dark metal upper level solution which would sit against the dark upper levels of trees that surround the site on the northern and western sides. The generous canopy overhangs give great presence to the upper levels that float over the ground floor.

The ground floor is grounded by the utilisation of stone cladding to the entire floor including the indoor pool and gym facilities.

The pièce de résistance though is the modest and elegant top floor bedroom suite which has wing-like floating roof scapes that mimic the ideology of the neighbour birds to the bird sanctuary.
