Wildflower Centre - Liverpool

A stunning concept for a community building that pays homage to the vibrant array of UK wildflowers.

We were shortlisted finalists in a RIBA competition for a national exemplar building which would showcase the work surrounding the protection and growing of wildflowers in the UK. The ‘national wildflower centre’ solution bases its original concept on the forms and rhythms in nature of the natural forms that illustrate the beauty of wildflowers in the UK. Our solution had a central core which creates a tower feature sculptured out of steel tubing which grows from the centre skywards. There are then three tensile roof ‘leaves’ which provide particular functionality to the complex inviting the visitor to explore and engage.
