Tolmers Park Flat Roof Extension - Hertfordshire
Conversions & Alterations, Residential Architects
Tolmers Park is a beautiful Grade II listed building, to which we have added a single storey flat roof extension to the rear.
Some excavation was required to align the internal lower ground floor level with the external garden level. The flat roof extension has been carefully designed to preserve and respect the character and appearance of the existing grade listed property.
The external walls of the extension are clad with unstained kiln dried larch timber. The sliding glazed openings to the rear of this beautiful flat roof extension have a thin dark grey powder coated fenestration. Together, the timber and minimal glazing allow the new element to remain subservient to the historic character of the existing building.
The considered inclusion of rooflights allows light to penetrate deeper into the plan, allowing for all-day ambient open plan living.
Our design provides a sympathetic response to the existing property aiding the maintenance of its historic qualities and character while allowing the property to work more efficiently and practically as a family home. Notably, the major benefits of this flat roof extension, for the occupants, have been the addition of an essential extra bedroom and en-suites to all.
Furthermore a gym, cinema, music room and office all allow for three generations to comfortably occupy this wonderful home in unison. This project is a shining example of how a simple, single storey flat roof extension can revolutionise your space.
