North Bedford House - Bedfordshire
Paragraph 84e (formely 80e) Architecture, Residential Architects
Located on a rural site with a substantial semi ancient woodland to the west, this site allowed for a delicate intervention nature-inspired proposal for an innovative house.
The house was to be raised from the floor ‘echoing’ the tree life living with simple structures like ‘trunks’ in an elegant innovative form extending to the ground.
The honeycomb structure allowed for this floating building behind, suspended above the ground to allow the landscape to flow beneath the building. The central courtyard allows for a private space in this nature-inspired solution.
The cell structures created in this unique design allow for an outstanding piece of modern architecture, befitting of the paragraph 79 planning policy.
