Eastmead House - Essex
One-Off Houses, Residential Archive Projects
Located in Essex, this two-acre plot significantly sloped from north to south down into the valley. The existing house was at the lower end and was rather tired with poor views to the surrounding landscape. Our proposals were to put the replacement dwelling higher up to the north of the site to capture the views to the south. Having the southern views meant that we had to be cautious with regards to the extent of the glazing and how we would provide solar shading to that glazing. The solar shading requirement allowed us to create significantly extensive panoramic balconies to the property at both levels.
The proposals are to Passivhaus standards with high levels of air tightness, insulation, air quality and sustainable heating systems.
