Barley Manor House - Cambridgeshire
Conversions & Alterations, Residential
Set to the rear of this grade 2 listed building, the proposals were based on creating additional needed floor area for the family while being mindful of the significance of the building and how we could sensitively engage. The proposals were therefore to create a very transparent solution enabling the continuation of the reading of the 15th century staircase tower as well as the crows foot brickwork to the garden face.
We proposed a slender corten flat roof with sedum finish, triple glazed sliding panels and two courtyards to the rear of the proposals to minimise the visible connections of the new to the old.
